AlphaTaxCalc is an independent website. It is not owned by, affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) or any government department of Pakistan.
All calculators give estimates for general information only. Your actual tax may differ because of exemptions, allowances, tax credits, adjustable withholding taxes, special regimes or changes in law after our last update.
Nothing on this site is professional tax, legal or financial advice. Always confirm your liability with FBR's official resources or a qualified tax practitioner before filing a return or making a financial decision.
Why we're spelling this out
Tax affects people's money directly, and an estimate taken as fact can cause real problems. Someone might plan a home loan around a take-home figure, or file a return with the wrong number. We'd rather be upfront about what our tools can and can't do than have anyone caught out.
What our calculators assume
- Same income every month. The salary calculator assumes the same pay for all twelve months of the tax year. Mid-year joiners, bonuses and raises change how much your employer deducts each month.
- All income entered is taxable. If part of your pay is exempt, enter only the taxable amount.
- No deductions or credits. Zakat, donations, pension contributions and other credits are not applied.
- No other income. Rent, bank profit, dividends, capital gains and foreign income are not included unless you add them yourself where relevant.
- Withholding taxes not adjusted. Tax deducted on bills, vehicles or bank transactions may reduce your final liability, but our calculators don't account for it.
- Special regimes not covered. Some income, such as certain export earnings, is taxed under separate final-tax rules that our general calculators don't apply.
Rates and law
We base our rates on the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 as amended by the latest Finance Act, and on FBR's published rate cards. We review the site after every budget and whenever FBR announces a change that affects our tools. Even so, there may be a gap between a change taking effect and our update. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed.
Where the law is unclear, or FBR's practice differs from the plain wording, we follow the most widely accepted reading and say so. Your tax adviser may take a different view for your circumstances, and their advice should take priority.
Guides and articles
Our guides explain general rules in simple terms. They are not a substitute for reading the law or getting advice. Procedures on IRIS and other FBR systems change from time to time, so screens and menu names may differ slightly from what we describe.
External links
We link to FBR and other websites for reference. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.
Advertising
Ads on this site are served by Google and other partners. We don't endorse the products or services advertised, and ads have no influence on our calculations or content.
Reporting errors
If you think something on the site is wrong, please contact us. We check every report and correct confirmed errors quickly.
Examples and worked figures
Many pages include worked examples, such as "a salary of Rs 150,000 a month pays this much tax". These are there to explain how the calculation works. They use round numbers and assume the person has no other income, exemptions or credits. Your own figures will almost always differ in some way.
Previous tax years
Some calculators let you choose an earlier tax year. We keep these for comparison and for people dealing with an older return. Older rates are shown as they were enacted. We don't track every mid-year amendment or court ruling that may have affected a particular past year.
No adviser-client relationship
Using this website, emailing us, or calling us doesn't create any professional relationship between you and AlphaTaxCalc or Alphas Inc. We're happy to explain how our tools work, but we can't take responsibility for decisions made on your behalf.
Your responsibility
Under Pakistani law, each taxpayer is responsible for the accuracy of their own return. That responsibility stays with you no matter which calculator, app or website you used to prepare it. If you're unsure, a registered tax practitioner can review your figures before you submit.
Rounding
Results are rounded to the nearest rupee. Your employer's payroll system or IRIS may round differently at each step, so small differences of a few rupees are normal and nothing to worry about.
Translations and summaries
If you read our content through a translation tool, an AI assistant, or a summary on another website, the meaning can change. The English text on AlphaTaxCalc is the version we stand behind.
In short
Use AlphaTaxCalc to understand your tax, plan ahead and sanity-check the numbers on your payslip. Don't use it as the final word when real money or a legal filing is at stake. For that, check FBR's own guidance or speak to a professional who can look at your full picture.
