How to pick the right calculator
Start with where your money comes from. If you're employed and paid a salary, the salary tax calculator is the one you'll use most. If you run a shop, practise a profession, or work for yourself with local clients, go to the business tax calculator. If you freelance for clients abroad, the freelancer calculator shows how much lower your tax can be under the export regime.
Then think about big one-off events. Buying or selling property, registering a new car, or redeeming investments each come with their own tax, collected at the time of the transaction. Those calculators help you budget so the tax doesn't come as a surprise at the registrar's office or the excise counter.
Finally, there are the small, regular deductions most people never add up: tax on mobile loads, electricity bills and cash withdrawals. On their own they look minor. Across a year, and especially for non-filers, they become real money. Running your numbers through these tools is a good way to see what filing a return would save you.
What all our calculators have in common
- Current rates. Every tool uses the rates set by the Finance Act 2026 for Tax Year 2027 unless it says otherwise.
- Private. Your numbers stay in your browser. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
- Explained. Each page shows the rate table, a worked example and answers to common questions, so you can check the result yourself.
- Filer vs non-filer. Where your status changes the rate, you can switch between them and see the difference.
- Free. No sign-up, no limits.
Filer status matters almost everywhere
You'll notice a "filer / non-filer" option on many of these tools. That's because Pakistan charges people who don't file returns much higher withholding tax at almost every point where money changes hands. A non-filer pays 10.5% advance tax buying a property that costs a filer 1.25%. A non-filer pays three times the filer rate registering a car, and up to five times more on mobile loads. If you're not on the Active Taxpayers List, our filer guide explains how to get there.
Estimates, not final figures
Our calculators apply the published rates to the numbers you give them. They can't see your exemptions, tax credits, other income, or tax you've already paid elsewhere. For a straightforward case, the result will be very close. For anything complex, or anything you're about to file, use the result as a starting point and confirm with FBR or a tax adviser. Each page notes what it does and doesn't include.
Missing a calculator?
We add new tools based on what readers ask for. If there's a tax you keep working out by hand, such as pension, gratuity, dividend income or a specific provincial tax, tell us and we'll look at adding it.
